Some manufacturers claim their lamps are the brightest, and offer specifications in lumens.
A lumen, however, is a measure of light based on human perception, and is irrelevant to indoor garden lighting. Simply put, lumens don't affect how plants will convert light into energy. Photosynthesis depends on many other factors.
Indeed, while high lumen lights may appear to be bright to people, they might not have the precise values plants need to thrive. If a manufacturer advertises their light specifications in lumens, lux or candlepower, beware!
